Behavior & Reactivity Training

Individualized Training for Complex Behavior

Behavior Problems Rarely Exist in Isolation

Most people come to us because of one specific concern: leash reactivity, aggression, resource guarding, fear, anxiety, or another behavior that has become difficult to manage.

But lasting improvement often requires more than focusing on that behavior alone. Depending on the dog, we may need to strengthen obedience, improve communication, build confidence, establish clearer boundaries, or develop better impulse control before the behavior itself can be addressed effectively.

That is what individualized training means to us: identifying what your dog actually needs, not simply treating the symptom you can see.

Training for Challenging Behaviors

From everyday frustrations to serious behavioral concerns, we work with dogs across the full spectrum of training needs. Every case begins with understanding the individual dog, the behavior you're seeing, and what may be contributing to it.

Reactivity

Lunging, barking, fixation, leash reactivity, dog-to-dog reactions, and difficulty remaining calm or responsive around triggers.

Aggression & Bite History

Serious aggression, including dogs with a bite history or behavior that has made them difficult for others to safely handle.

Resource Guarding

Guarding food, toys, furniture, spaces, people, or other valued resources from family members, visitors, or other animals.

Fear & Anxiety

Nervous, fearful, avoidant, or insecure behavior that interferes with confidence, handling, daily routines, or quality of life.

Impulse Control

Excessive excitement, barking, jumping, difficulty settling, poor frustration tolerance, and loss of responsiveness when overstimulated.

Obedience & Reliability

Building the communication, boundaries, structure, and dependable responses that more advanced behavioral work often depends upon.

We don't consider a dog “too difficult” simply because the behavior is serious.

If you're willing to be part of the process and make the changes your dog needs, we're willing to work with you.

Every Dog Gets an Individual Plan

Two dogs can show the same behavior for very different reasons. That is why every training program at Elite Dogs begins with a consultation rather than a one-size-fits-all recommendation.

We look at the behavior you're concerned about, your dog's temperament and current skills, your household, your goals, and the circumstances surrounding the problem. From there, we determine what your dog actually needs to make meaningful progress.

We Listen We start with the problems you're experiencing and the changes you want to see.
We Evaluate We meet your dog, assess the behavior, and look beyond the immediate symptom for contributing factors.
We Recommend We guide you toward Board & Train, Private Training, In-Home Training, or the combination that best fits the situation.
Customization doesn't mean simply choosing which behavior to work on. It means building the training around what your individual dog needs to reach the goal.

Experience + Education

Experience Matters. So Does Continuing to Learn.

Elite Dogs has been training dogs since 2001, including many of the difficult behavior cases that owners are often told are too much to manage. That depth of experience matters, especially when behavior is serious, complex, or tied to multiple contributing factors.

At the same time, good training does not stand still. We continue to study animal behavior, attend relevant coursework, and stay current with evolving research and better understanding of how dogs learn and respond.

The result is an approach grounded in real-world experience, but always open to better information when it helps dogs and their families succeed.

Deep Hands-On Experience

Years of practical work with obedience, reactivity, fear, aggression, and everyday household behavior challenges.

Continuing Education

Ongoing learning in animal behavior and training so our knowledge continues to grow along with the field itself.

Trusted With Difficult Cases

Our experience with challenging dogs has also led other trainers to occasionally refer cases they believe would benefit from our approach.

We keep the methods that have consistently worked for decades and remain willing to adapt when better information becomes available.

That balance matters. Experience brings perspective, but continued learning keeps a training program from becoming outdated.

Our goal is not to rely on trends or tradition alone. It is to use the most effective understanding we have to help each dog make meaningful progress.

Success Requires Follow-Through at Home

Professional training can create significant progress, but your dog ultimately lives with you. What happens after training matters just as much.

We may recommend changes that seem unrelated to the behavior that first brought you to us. We will explain what we are asking you to change, why it matters, and how it supports the larger goal.

Sometimes fixing the problem you see means changing patterns you may not have realized were part of the problem.

Routine

What Happens at Home Matters

Feeding, greetings, furniture, doorways, sleeping arrangements, freedom around the house, and other everyday habits can influence the structure and expectations your dog experiences.

Clarity

Consistency Creates Understanding

Dogs make progress faster when expectations are clear and predictable. When everyone handles the dog differently, it becomes much harder for new behavior to become reliable.

Real Life

The Training Has to Leave the Training Room

Progress has to carry over to neighborhood walks, visitors, other dogs, public places, family routines, and the situations that originally made you seek help in the first place. These are all important, but lasting change needs to begin inside your own home, paired with the healthy boundaries and training recommendations we provide.

We can build the foundation. Your family helps make it permanent. The strongest results come when professional training and everyday life are working toward the same goal.
The First Step

Start With a Consultation

You do not need to know which training program your dog needs before contacting us. That is part of our job.

Every program begins with a consultation so we can meet your dog, understand the behavior you are dealing with, learn what you want to accomplish, and recommend the training path that makes the most sense.
